## Clermont Tutor for Math

Clermont Tutor - Math tutors in Clermont, Fl. We assist students in turning failing math grades into exceptional math grades. Clermont Tutor does this by building a solid mathematical base for our students. This base includes better understanding foundational concepts of fractions, algebra and other popular math topics. From a solid base, students are better able to understand and solve complex math problems.

Students have difficulty learning math for a variety of reasons. Some students are never explained the building blocks of math, such as the meaning behind division, multiplication, and addition or subtraction. Without a solid understanding, as to the meaning behind the concepts, students are cursed with trying to duplicate problems solved by instructors as compared to understanding the concepts behind the problems in applying the learned skills to new and challenging problems. In the situation, students are forever frustrated when they are asked to apply concepts that they do not understand to different situations. Other students intuitively understand basic concepts behind math. However, in these situations, when new concepts are introduced, they may feel frustrated because the concepts have shifting rules when applied to different situations. This, again, leads to frustration by students.

## Clermont Tutor - Review of Math Classes

**Elementary School Math Tutoring -**We offer an innovative program created specifically to construct a solid math foundation for young students. The foundation will consist of a strong understanding in various math skills such as counting, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and other basic concepts. In kindergarten through third grade, common topics covered include recognizing numbers, counting, counting money, basic addition and subtraction, and solving word problems.

**– Pre-Algebra is usually taught at the middle school (7th or 8th grade) and college level. Pre-algebra classes usually start with students identifying rational and irrational numbers. Next, students will dive into examining integers, fractions, decimals and build a solid foundation for working with negative numbers. With these two sections completed, pre-algebra courses will dive into basic two-step algebra equations. An example of this would be: 3x+7=12. The two-step equations are preamble to more complex topics such as working with polynomials, evaluating expressions, working with graphs, and basic geometry concepts.**

Pre-Algebra

Pre-Algebra

**Algebra**1- Clermont Tutor, in Clermont, Fl., offers assistance in algebra 1, algebra 2 and college algebra. Mastering algebra one starts with having a solid algebra foundation in pre-algebra. Algebra one class usually starts with discussing core theories such as dependent and independent variables, combining like terms, interpreting linear equations, and a historical review of algebra. From this, students usually explore various methods to solve one variable linear equations. This will include one and two step equations as well as using polynomials. Further, inequalities, both regular and compound, will be explored in the class. This will lead to students using two variable equations. A popular method to teach these concepts is through the use of graphs. Equations used in this part of the course include slope intercept equation, point slope form any equation, standard form, identifying horizontal and vertical lines, and the slope equation. To wrap up the course, students will explore concepts related to absolute value, peace wise functions, radical exponents, and radical expressions. Keep in mind, for most school districts, passing algebra one is required for graduation.

**Algebra 2**- Algebra 2 builds off the concepts learned in algebra one and pre-algebra. A common theme in algebra two is dealing with functions. In this course, students will identify different types of functions, understand how to combine functions, explain how to shift functions to the right, left, up and down, find inverse functions, and discuss stretching and contracting functions. With functions mastered, students will then explore complex numbers in working with polynomials. Topics that are covered related to polynomials include: combining like terms, simplifying polynomials, identifying terms the polynomial, explaining the difference between a polynomial and a binomial, and dividing/multiplying polynomials. The final portion of the course will apply topics learned to mathematical word problems. Popular word problems in algebra 2 are related to exponential growth and decay and logarithms.
